SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Four SIUE players finished in the top 10 individually and SIUE golf took home the team title at Missouri State's Twin Oaks Intercollegiate completed Wednesday at Twin Oaks Country Club.
The Cougars bested a field of 12 teams to win for a third time at Missouri State. It also is the first time in school history that SIUE golf has won three team titles in a single season.
The Cougar fired a final round 282 and finished at 854(+2), matching their 10th lowest 54-hole score in school history. SIUE finished nine strokes ahead of second-place Missouri State and 14 shots ahead of Northern Iowa.
SIUE was paced by Will Simpson who carded a career-best 67 in the final round. He finished at 209 (-4), just three shots back of the Individual Medalist, Missouri State's Tim Holmberg. Brady Kaufmann finished third at 210 (-3).
Preston Bily, playing as an individual, tied for seventh at 215 (+2). Alex Eickhoff finished 11th at 216 (+3). Parker Bruening, also playing as an individual, finished 22nd at 219.
Brent Reintjes tied for 34th at 221. Max Bruening finished 62nd at 229.
Hayden Moore tied for 51st at 225. Thomas Hereau also finished at 229. Both were playing as individuals.
The Cougars will next be in action at the Golfweek Invitational in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina March 31-April 2.
