MADISON, Ill. – SIUE golf turned in the third-lowest round of the day Tuesday, shooting a 287 in the final round of the SIUE Dolenc Invitational. The Cougars finished the tournament at 878 to take seventh, but were just four strokes away from a top-three finish.
Idaho came in at 865 to take the team championship by two shots over Weber State. SIU Carbondale finished third at 874.
Southeastern Louisiana's Charlie Forster eagled hole 18 in a playoff with Bradley's Josh Kirkham to claim Individual Medalist honors.
Freshman Brady Kaufmann earned his first career top-10 finish, tying for ninth at 216. He fired a 69 in Tuesday's final round, the first round in the 60s for his career.
Alex Eickhoff also carded a 69 Tuesday and earned his best finish as a Cougar, tying for 26th at 221. Anthony Ruthey also tied for 26th at 221. Luke Ludwig finished at 224 to tie for 45th and Brooks Jungbluth tied for 79th with a 233.
Among four SIUE individuals, TJ Baker scored the best finish in a tie for 20th. He shot 219 for the tournament. Presley Mackelburg tied for 31st at 222. Connor Neighbors finished at 232 in 78th place. Tanner Collins finished 95th at 246.
SIUE is back on the course for the Big O Classic, hosted by Omaha and Creighton Oct. 3-4.
