TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The SIUE women's and men's track and field teams placed third Saturday at the Indiana State Quadrangular Meet.
The order of finish was identical for both the men's and women's competition at Marks Stadium. Indiana State won the meet followed by Eastern Illinois, SIUE and Loyola (Ill.).
Eric Mammoser, Ben Bishop and Kayla Brown were the only SIUE winners Saturday.
Mammoser won the pole vault with a leap of 14 feet, 7.25 inches. He was one of three competitors to clear the height but was awarded the win because of fewer misses.
Brown was the victor at 5,000 meters in a time of 17 minutes, 45.54 seconds. Brown fell just eight seconds short of her own school record mark in the event. Bishop won the hammer throw Friday at the opening day and then added the discus on Saturday.
Bishop bested five Indiana State throwers with a toss of 186-7. It also was a personal best for the sophomore, who is now No. 2 on the all-time hammer list at SIUE.
In the discus, he won by just more than one foot with a throw of 153-8.
