After a slow start in game one, the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville volleyball took control in its four-game victory Saturday against Southern Indiana.
         The Cougars improved to 13-2 and 2-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference by defeating the Screaming Eagles 25-30, 30-21, 30-27, 30-19.
         Four different Cougars finished in double figures in kills. Sophomore middle hitter Heather Bonde led the way with 15 kills and four blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Allison Buss collected 14 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Kindra Westendorf and senior middle hitter Andrea Voss had 13 kills each.
         SIUE had 13 blocks, including nine from Voss, who leads the GLVC in blocks through the first month of the season.
         The Cougars also played some strong defense with 85 digs, including 25 from freshman libero Beth DeGreeff.
         Southern Indiana had three players in double figures in kills led by 13 each from Laura Ellerbusch and Leeanne Gross.
         SIUE leads the Green Division of the GLVC with its perfect start to the GLVC season. The Cougars next travel to Missouri-St. Louis to face the Riverwomen on Wednesday. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
