2012-2013 will mark T.J. Gray's third season as SIUE's Director ofBasketball Operations. He came to SIUE after previously workingwith Full Package Athletics, helping athletes improve theirbasketball skills. Gray is involved in many facets of the programincluding travel plans, practice preparation, managing therecruiting database and film exchange with opposing teams. Graybegan his playing career at Western Illinois, where he played fortwo seasons. He played a single season at UIC before finishing hiscareer at SIUE. Gray earned his Bachelors Degree from Illinois-Chicago inBusiness Management in 2007. He earned a Masters Degree in SportsManagement from SIUE in 2010. As a player: SIUE, 2007-2008: Spent one season as a player at SIUE, undercoach Forrester. He earned All-GLVC Second Team honors in 2007-08,when he shattered the school record for three pointers made, making102 triples during the season. Gray led the team in scoring,averaging 16.6 points for the season. He registered the most stealson the team for the season with 49, and also shot a team-best .833from the free throw line. He later played professionally with theRoseto Sharks in Italy's Serie C2. Gray, a Chicago native,currently resides in Edwardsville. UIC, 2006-07: Made 20 appearances and nine starts in one seasonwith the Flames, finished third on the team in scoring with 11.1points per game...tied the UIC single-season record with 90three-pointers made...shot 9 percent (34-for-38) from the freethrow line and 4 percent from three-point range...led UIC inscoring in four outings...scored a career-best 22 points, includingsix three-pointers, Jan. 13 vs. Loyola...dished out a career-bestfive assists vs. Detroit Jan. 20... Sat out the 2005-06 campaign per NCAA Transfers Guidelines Western Illinois, 2003-2005: Two-year starter at WesternIllinois University...averaged 7.2 points, 1.6 assists and 1.2rebounds per game as a sophomore for the Leathernecks whileshooting 43 percent from three-point range...as a freshman,averaged 10.0 points and 3.1 assists per outing en route toMid-Continent Conference All-Newcomer Team accolades...setLeatherneck freshman records for three-pointers made andthree-point percentage...scored in double figures 21 times duringhis time at Western Illinois, including a career-best 22-pointeffort versus Oakland on Jan. 5th, 2004. |
