CARBONDALE, Ill. – Freshman
Payton Carter set a new program record during her first ever indoor collegiate meet. Carter recorded 3.65 meters in the pole vault event putting her ahead of Dana Fischer who recorded a height of 3.06 meters in 2009.
Carter finished second in women's pole vault, behind Yasmine Ruff from Wash U at 3.95.
Taylor Lehman also set a new record in the 60m indoor hurdles. Lehman ran 8.25 placing second in the Saluki Fast Start, and good for second in the programs all-time history. This places him behind Will Lindsey who ran a 7.98 in 2012.
THROWS:
Abigail Irvin was the only athlete to compete in women's weight throws during the two-day event. Irvine places 14th at 10.44m. Irvin also competed in women's shot put where she placed 17th at 9.43.
JUMPS:
The Cougars had three athletes competing in the women's long jump event. Teagan Sullivan finished sixth at 5.47m,
Cassidy Short followed in 11th at 5.07m, and Sheena Cumberpatch rounded out the group finishing 13 at 5.04m.
Zaria Searcy placed fourth in the women's high jump at 1.60.
Aseanti Boone followed in fifth at 1.60. Also competing was
Jada Fryer placing eighth at 1.55m and
Harper Smith taking 12th at 1.50.
In the men's high jump,
Drew Tucker tied with SIU Carbondale's Christian Coleman for first, both recording 1.95m. Also competing in men's high jump,
Caden Belcher who placed sixth at 1.85m.
In the women's triple jump junior
Nyah Williams took fourth at 11.12m.
SPRINTS & HURDLES:
Also competing in men's hurdles,
Simon McClaine came in third with a time of 8.42.
In the Women's 200m Jazmin West place eighth with a time of 26.71, Jaiden Parker finished 11th at 26.88, Darrelle Rice finished 18th at 27.62 and Kennedy Williams finished 20th at 27.94.
Lehman also competed in the men's 200m where he finished second with a time of 22.81. This was right behind SIUC's Christian Donatelli who finished with a time of 22.60.
Casey Borkowski also ran the men's 300m finished ninth at 23.31, and
Konnor Bouman followed in 10th at 23.43.
MID-DISTANCE & DISTANCE:
Lexi Kampwerth completed the women's one mile placing 14th out of 16th runner with a time of 5:56.54.
Megan Derrick was the only athlete to compete in the Women's 600m where she finished 11th at 1:44.93.
Kaylee Allen led the cougars for the women's 400m. Allen placed 13th at 1:00.14. Following her was freshman Jaiden Parker at 22nd with a time of 1:02.56, and Kennedy Williams placing 25th at 1:05.60.
Taylor Lehman finished third overall for the men's 400m with a time of 50.83.
Simon McClaine placed 9th at 52.99, and
Jonah Grawer finished 11th at 53.91.
Sophia Harrison was the only athlete to compete in he women's 3000m. Harrison finished 6th with a time of 10:51-58.
