LAST TIME
The Cougars traveled to Murray, Kentucky to take on the Murray State Racers for the final time as members of the Ohio Valley Conference on Thursday. The Racers, receiving votes in both major polls, demonstrated why they are among college basketball's top teams with a 79-59 win at CFSB Center. Shaun Doss, Jr. lead the Cougar charge in the contest, posting 19 points on the night. DeeJuan Pruitt and Shamar Wright each added nine, while Jonathan Kurtas recorded a season-best eight points in the matchup.

CONFERENCE CALL
SIUE is playing its 11th Ohio Valley Conference season. The Cougars are 54-125 in OVC play. Head Coach Brian Barone has a 13-33 record in OVC play.

LAST MEETING
The Cougars fell to the Southeast Missouri Redhawks in their last meeting on January 22, 2022 by a 85-77 margin. The Redhawks stormed out to an early 10-3 lead and the Red & White spent the remainder of the game trying mightily to claw back. The Cougars did just that, clamping down on defense and holding SEMO bucketless through their next eight field goal attempts. SIUE took advantage of the cold Redhawk shooting, taking as big as a five-point lead; however, Southeast Missouri would close out the half on a 10-1 run to put the Redhawks up four at the break. The Cougars would tie things up at the start of the second half, but that is as close as the game would get, as SIUE could not overtake the Redhawks and resulted in the eight-point final advantage.

Ray'Sean Taylor would lead the Cougar efforts with 25 points, including five made three-pointers. However, Taylor's night would be cut short due to injury - the injury which would later be discovered as a season-ending torn right ACL. Courtney Carter followed closely behind Taylor with a 14-point outing, while DeeJuan Pruitt would just nearly miss out on a double-double with a 14-point, eight-rebound performance.

TAYLOR OUT FOR SEASON
Ray'Sean Taylor's stellar freshman campaign has officially come to an end, as the Cougar guard has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a torn right ACL. This injury, sustained in SIUE's first meeting against the Redhawks, mirrors the injury that kept Taylor sidelined during the 2020-21 season. Taylor's season saw him blossom into one of the OVC's most prolific offensive talents, leading the league in points and ranking in the top 10 in virtually every offensive statistical category. The timetable for Taylor's return depends on his response to treatment and rehabilitation.

HOME SWEET HOME
Of SIUE's remaining nine games, six of them are at home. The Cougars begin a three-game homestand on Monday before hosting UT Martin on Thursday night and Tennessee Tech on Saturday afternoon.
