Southeast Missouri State scored 28 points on free throws Saturday and knocked off SIUE 85-77 at the Show Me Center. Southeast Missouri got out to a 10-3 lead to open the game, before missing its next eight field goal attempts, letting the Cougars right back in. The Cougars had their largest lead at 30-25 following a pair of free throws by Shuan Doss, Jr. SEMO finished the half on a 10-1 run, capped off by a three-pointer at the halftime buzzer by Chris Harris to lead 35-31. Four Cougars scored in double figures in SIUE's sixth consecutive loss.Â

ROAD WARRIORS
SIUE plays two of its next three games on the road. The Cougars played eight of their first nine games away from home. SIUE has three road wins this season. Last season, SIUE set a new mark for road wins in a season in the Division I era with six.
TAYLOR STAYS HOT
Ray'Sean Taylor has nine games of 20 or more points after scoring 25 Saturday at SEMO. That followed a career-best 26 against Tennessee State. He leads the OVC in scoring at 17.6 points per game, which is tied fo the lead in the NCAA among first-year players with Duke's Paolo Banchero (17.6 ppg). Taylor missed last season with a torn right ACL. He is the all-time leading scorer at Collinsville High with more than 2,100 points. He posted a 53-point game against Trinity (St. Louis) during his senior year.
GIMME FIVE
Taylor has won the OVC Freshman of the Week award five times this season. He is the first SIUE player to win more than three OVC awards in the same season.Â
DP AWARDED
DeeJuan Pruitt earned his first selection as OVC Newcomer of the Week last week, when he averaged 15.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in three games. He connected on 59 percent of his shots for the week.Â
