RETURN TO EVANSVILLE

SIUE is making its fifth trip to the OVC Championship and third since the tournament moved to Evasnville. This is the fouth time SIUE has played as the eighth seed.

 

WINTER BREAK

SIUE postponed nine games between Dec. 18 and Jan. 21, making 33 full days between games.

 

GAUNTLET

SIUE returned to play Jan. 21, finishing the season with 18 games in the season's final 37 days. 

 

LAST GAME

SIUE men's basketball put up a furious comeback attempt Saturday but feel short in a 69-63 loss to Southeast Missouri at First Community Arena.

After leading 35-27 at halftime, Southeast Missouri pushed its lead to 47-31 with 14:11 to play when SIUE roared back. The Cougars scored the next 15 points and 17 of the next 18 to even the score 48-48 on a Courtney Carter layup with 8:36 left. The Cougars never did take the lead and the Redhawks pushed their advantage to as many as eight down the stretch. 

 

CONFERENCE CALL

SIUE'S seven OVC wins are the most for the Cougars since the 2014-15 season. The most OVC wins SIUE has had is eight in 2014-15.

 

BLOCK PARTY

SIUE has blocked 10 or more shots in a game three times. With 11 blocks against UHSP, SIUE matched the school record, set in 2006. At 4.5 blocks per game, the Cougars are second in the OVC and are 37th nationally. Lamar Wright is second in the OVC and No. 56 nationally at 1.72 blocks per game. Shamar Wright is 12th in the league at 0.80 blocks per game.

With six road wins, SIUE set a new mark for road wins in a season in the Division I era.
