GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY
The 2017-18 season marks the 50th season of SIUE men's basketball. The men's basketball program began with the 1967-68 season, the first of three under the late Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer
Harry Gallatin.
THIRD SEASON
SIUE Head Coach
Jon Harris is in his third season at the helm of the Cougars. The native of Edwardsville, Illinois, is 19-60 overall.
TONIGHT
SIUE returns home to begin its second four-game home stand of the season. The Cougars are 3-5 at home this season, including a 1-3 mark in
Ohio Valley Conference play.
LAST TIME
SIUE men's basketball battled Belmont for the better part of 40 minutes Saturday, but it was the Belmont Bruins who prevailed, defeating the Cougars 83-72. A
Christian Ellis layup and a
David McFarland three-pointer got the Cougars out to a 5-0 lead. SIUE finished the first half with a 32-30 lead after a
Daniel Kinchen three-pointer at the halftime buzzer. Austin Luke's three-pointer with 3:43 to play put the Bruins up for good at 65-63.
Jalen Henry led SIUE with 17 points, 15 of which came in the second half. He was 5-8 from the floor and 6-7 at the free throw line. McFarland continued a run of good play, scoring 15 points. Ellis scored 13 points and added four rebounds.
SERIES STUFF
SIUE trails the all-time series against Tennessee Tech 7-3 but is 3-2 in home games against the Golden Eagles. TTU has won the last two in the series.
