The men's team placed 11th out of 26 teams with 292 points.
The next-best runner for SIUE was Kliem, finishing in 25:07.3 and recording a season-best time by more than 25 seconds.
The three runners rounding out the top five for the Cougars all set personal or season bests. Scott Woodard completed the race in 25:08.8, a 12 second best for the senior. "The men continue to improve each meet and close gaps within the pack," said Distance Coach Kayla Brown. "They did a great job working off of each other."
The women's team had a successful day as well, with all runners recording either a personal or season best.
Leading the team was Erin Kennedy, cutting 45 seconds off of her personal best and finishing in 29:59.7 in 82nd place, the only Cougar to break the top 100.
Freshman Allie Sweatt recorded a personal best by more than a minute, finishing the 6K in 22:17.3. Rounding out the top five for the Cougars was Haley Miller with a 37 second personal best (22:37.0), Conradette King with a season best of more than one minute (22:39.8), and Jess Clarke, who recorded a personal best by 39 seconds (22:53.1). Haley Briggs was the sixth Cougar to cross the finish line with a time of 25:13.6, a season best by 33 seconds.
The team finished 24th with a score of 648.
"Today was full of personal and season bests," said Brown. "All of the women cut down at least 30 seconds from our last meet. They all did their part today and I am so proud of each of them."
The Cougars' next competition is the OVC Championship meet Oct. 31.
"We can use today as one last stepping stone for conference and figure out where we need to make changes," said Brown. "We will keep focusing on pack running and utilizing each other to accomplish our overall goal."
