AMES, Iowa – Three SIUE runners completed the NCAA Midwest Regional with personal bests in the 6K race Friday at the Iowa State Cross Country Course.
SIUE placed 28th out of 30 teams with 763 points as host Iowa State took the team honors with 39 points. Minnesota (59) and Oklahoma State (192) rounded out the top three.
SIUE's top three of Claire Brown, Renee Johns-Goodenough, and Conradette King led the Cougars.
"All three also had personal bests with their 5K time on the way to their best 6K races," said SIUE Head Coach Eileen McAllister.
Claire Brown ran the third fastest 6K in school history with a time of 21 minutes, 54.2 seconds. She placed 79th overall.
Johns-Goodenough moved into the all-time top 10 with a time of 22:36.2. That's the eight-fastest SIUE 6K. She placed 137th at the meet.
King ran the 19th fastest 6K time in school history in 23:16.4 as she placed 170th overall.
SIUE's Kirby Hale took 192nd in a time of 23:47.6. Haley Briggs was 203rd in 24:27.7, and Emily Conlon took 205th in 24:43.9.
"We improved upon our times from last year. We still have some things to work on," said McAllister.
