Cougars Overpower Oakland City

         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville used a 10-0 run last in the first half and rolled over Oakland City in men's non-conference basketball action Wednesday night at the Vadalabene Center.
         SIUE improved to 12-8 after shooting 52.9 percent from the field and 85 percent from the free throw line. Oakland City fell to 10-8.
         Mike Hardiek led all scorers with 19 points. He hit both of his three-pointers and five free throws along with 6-of-13 shooting.
         Nick Arth, a sophomore, pumped in 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Doug Taylor flashed a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
         Wednesday's game also was the return of Ty Johnson, who has missed the last 10 games with a shoulder injury. He played 12 minutes and had three assists.
         Four players finished in double figures for the Oaks. Keegan Carmony, Kyle Attebury, and Eric Sanders each had 12 points while Andy Kissel added 10.
         SIUE returns to Great Lakes Valley Conference play Saturday when it travels to Quincy for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off with the Hawks at Pepsi Arena.
