Honolulu, Hawaii - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville won for the ninth straight time defeating Dominican (NY) 57-42 on Sunday afternoon at the Hoop-n-Surf Classic, for the Cougars' longest winning streak since the 1986-87 season when SIUE won 10 in a row.
         Tim Bauersachs was six-of-eight from the field for 15 points while adding six rebounds. The Cougars had a 30-26 halftime lead. They held the Chargers to 32 percent from the field, forcing 15 turnovers. The Cougars shot 46 percent (20-43) from the field and 37 percent (7-19) from behind the three-point arc.
         Anthony Jones came off the bench to chip in 13 points including three three-pointers. Joel Jaye had ten points and eight rebounds.
         SIUE is two victories away from tying a school-record of 11 wins in a row set back in the 1985-86 season.
         The Cougars take on seventh-ranked Washburn tomorrow at 4 p.m. (8 p.m. CST) in the Hoop-n-Surf Classic.
