UWP Holds On For Six-Point Win

         KENOSHA, Wis. - All five Wisconsin-Parkside starters scored in double figures as the Rangers downed Southern Illinois University Edwardsville 70-64 Saturday afternoon in men's college basketball action Saturday.
         With the loss, SIUE falls to 3-5 overall and 2-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). Wisconsin-Parkside is now 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the GLVC.
         Marty Perry and Rob Baumgardner were the leading scorers for SIUE with 16 points apiece. Marlon Grice led UWP's attack with 15 points.
         The Cougars never led in the game and fell behind by seven points at 37-30 by halftime. SIUE cut the lead to one at 42-42 with 15:13 to play as Perry nailed a three-pointer. Wisconsin-Parkside then scored the next six points and regained a seven-point lead.
         The Cougars came within two points a few minutes later on layup and a three-pointer from Baumgardner. It was 49-47 with 10:28 to play.
         Wisconsin-Parkside again held off the Cougars and led by as many as eight in the second half. A Perry layup with 2:06 to play put SIUE down by just two points, but the Rangers held on with four free throws from Kevin Carp in the final 30 seconds of the game.
         SIUE now heads to San Antonio, Texas, for the Incarnate Word Classic. The Cougars will face St. Edward's on Dec. 14 and Incarnate Word on Dec. 15. The Cougars return home to the Vadalabene Center on Dec. 20 to take on Truman State in a 7:30 p.m. contest.
