Lewis Powers Past Cougars

       Five Lewis players scored in double figures as the Flyers defeated Southern Illinois University Edwardsville 84-60 in men's college basketball Thursday night.
       Lewis, 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, shot 54 percent from the field. SIUE had its two-game winning streak snapped and fall to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the GLVC.
       Marty Perry led the offense for SIUE with 16 points. Derrick Fomby and Wes Pickering added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
       Sammy Bacino led Lewis' top five scorers with 20 points. Also scoring in double figures were Phil Taylor with 16, Stan Strong with 13, Austin Real with 11 and Demetrius Hunter with 10.
       Lewis took a 42-27 lead into the locker room. SIUE moved to within 10 on a layup by Perry with 5:24 to play. Lewis then outscored the Cougars 18-4 in the final five and one-half minutes of the game.
       The Cougars hope to bounce back Saturday when they travel to Kenosha, Wis., for a 3:15 p.m. at Wisconsin-Parkside.
